Weird haircuts and you!

I was stumbling around the internet the other day and came across this music video from band Tender Forever, sung by a woman with an asymmetric haircut, Melanie Valera. For reasons I can’t explain I’ve been addicted to this lately. I guess it’s because I first heard her singing covers of Cher and Justin Timberlake on some crazy french blog and they were stuck in my head pretty hard for the last couple days. She has a very good voice, but you wouldn’t know from most of her original stuff; the covers really seem to bring it out.
But this is not about the music, this is about her haircut. I like it, and I suspect it wouldn’t work for most women. Often, attractive people will do weird things with fashion and it will look alright on then, but then if an ugly person tries it they look even worse. I could see this being the case, except that in pretty much every other picture I’ve found of her she isn’t very attractive. So what’s the deal here, is she a. ugly with a good haircut, b. pretty with a bad haircut, or c. banana?
And yes, before you point it out, she is a lesbian. In that video she even makes out with a very cute chick. That’s fine with me; internet crushes don’t have to make any sense because it wasn’t like I was going to meet her, let alone get romantically involved. Though I am picturing a Three’s Company type thing right now with her and her girlfriend with lots of sexual tension and stuff.

I respect the asymmetry. I think you could do a study based on that, and I would bet dollars to donuts it originated in Williamsburg Brooklyn around 2006. I think the girl who created it was named Laura and worked at a hair salon called Public.
